Sustainable Business Intelligence (BI) consulting
Business intelligence consulting rethought – We expand BI with advanced analytics and AI
We support companies with business intelligence consulting – from KPI identification and control logic to data integration and dashboards (e.g. with Power BI or Tableau). The aim is to provide a reliable basis for decision-making: consistent key figures, clear responsibilities and reporting that triggers action across departments and hierarchical levels – not just figures.
Where does your company stand?
Perhaps you recognize your company in one (or more) of these points:
- Reporting is heavily Excel-driven and requires a lot of manual work
- Data is stored in several systems (e.g. ERP/CRM) and definitions are not standardized
- KPIs are interpreted differently and trust in figures and KPI dashboards is limited
- Dashboards exist, but are not used enough in everyday life (lack of adoption/ownership)
- There is no clear link between key figures and the actual drivers of earnings, growth or efficiency
- Important information is stored in unstructured data (e.g. emails, contracts) and is not considered in reporting
Success factors for business intelligence

Clarity per roll
Each KPI is assigned to a role or responsibility. KPIs are actively managed by the respective role and used in daily prioritization.

Hierarchy
KPIs can be aggregated and detailed along the organizational structure. The KPIs of one level are derived from the key figures of the level below.

KPIs as drivers
KPIs should focus on the issues that make the company successful. This includes clear measures in the event of deviations and a KPI logic in which target achievement actually means economic success.

“Business need” before tooling
Key figures are not collected because a tool provides something, but because there is a purpose for the business model.

Data quality & governance
Without clear definitions, authorizations and data quality rules, contradictory figures arise. A sustainable governance setup creates trust and ensures scalability.

Modern data access
Use new technologies such as language models to access information from unstructured data – especially emails and documents.
Goal
A transparent KPI and control logic that can be aggregated upwards and detailed downwards. Each person recognizes their contribution to success. Every manager understands the levers. This gives your company greater control, agility and decision-making power.
Procedure in five steps
We advise you and implement BI projects in phases that build on each other so that both the business logic and the technical implementation are coordinated. We work tool-independently and select the right BI tools for your requirements. Depending on the initial situation, we deliberately start lean and then scale up.
1. understand the status quo
The basis is a shared understanding of the current situation, which is why we identify goals, pain points and the key business drivers in workshops, taking into account existing reports and data sources. You contribute your expertise on your own business model.
Result: Understanding of the current status, prioritized reporting requirements, rough BI roadmap (quick wins & next steps).
2. establish control logic & KPI model
Depending on the complexity, we create an analysis of the influencing factors for either a selected area or the entire organization. We structure correlations, create mock-ups and develop a target image that serves as a blueprint for further work.
Result: Coordinated control logic (driver/impact model), uniformly defined KPIs, common target image.
3. create a data basis
We need a consistent database for the measurability of KPIs. To this end, we integrate relevant data sources and – depending on the requirements – set up a data warehouse or data lakehouse as a “single source of truth”. Where suitable data platforms or models already exist, we build on them and develop them further in a targeted manner.
Result: documented database, quality rules.
4. implement reporting & dashboards
Based on the data, we develop customized BI reporting – from management dashboards and simple visualizations to self-service structures. Depending on the requirements and system landscape, we use Power BI or Tableau, for example.
Result: Dashboards/reports and role/rights concept.
5. scaling & iteration
Once initial successes are visible, we gradually scale the control logic vertically along the organizational structure or horizontally to other areas. With training, feedback loops and iterations, we ensure that the BI system is used and further developed on a day-to-day basis.
Result: rollout plan, enablement, iterative further development.

Comprehensive sales analysis reporting that automatically provides daily evaluations for the sales team.

Driver tree as the centerpiece: systematic mapping of key influencing factors such as market trends, demand potential and competitive activities.
